The Create Studios Story

I have been lucky enough to live in Basking Ridge for most of my adult life. My husband and I have raised a family here, and we have all enjoyed being active members of this amazing community.

One thing that has not changed here since I first moved to Basking Ridge over 25 years ago is the communal longing for more “things to do” in town. The small businesses that are here are simply amazing, but it would be nice to have a few more. That being said, I hope Create Studios will offer a little something extra to our downtown strip and give you another local option when you’re looking to participate in something fun and different while staying close to home.

Thank you for supporting Create Studios and all small businesses!

Create Studios is a creative craft and sip studio where community comes together to socialize, unwind and most importantly, have fun!

Sign up for a workshop after drop-off or team build with us on your lunch break. Come with a friend, partner, or older child on a weeknight for a BYOB craft. Better yet, arrange a private crafting event for your group. Make us the warm up for your night out, or just straight up make us the night out! You are going to love getting in touch with your inner creative spirit while creating something amazing!

  • Where are you located?
We are located in the heart downtown Basking Ridge at 93 South Finley Avenue, Rear Building (across from Barrister Coffee House). Pull in the driveway behind Legband & D’Onofrio and you will see our beautiful free standing studio with plenty of onsite parking!
  • What are your hours?
Our hours vary depending on our workshop and event schedule. If you're planning on dropping by, it's a good idea to call first and make sure we're available to say hello. Also please note that we are closed to the public when private workshops and events are in session.
  • How do I sign up for a workshop?
Most workshops require advanced registration via our website. Click on the workshop you are interested in attending and if there are available seats, you will be able to register. Please note that registration closes for many of our workshops 24 hours before start time.
  • I’m interested in a certain workshop but it looks difficult. What do you think?
Well of course we think you should attend! No workshop we offer requires prior experience. They are ALL beginner level unless clearly labeled otherwise. Our kind and patient instructors will get you to the finish line. Besides, it’s about the process. You just need an open mind and a sense of humor. We’ve got the rest!
  • Can I make another one of something during a workshop (candle, flower arrangement, etc.)?
If we have the inventory and time permits, then yes! you can make additional crafts for an additional fee.
  • I’m so sorry I have to cancel. Can I get a refund?
Please understand that the less notice you give us for a cancellation, the less likely it will be that we can fill your seat, and we are a small business yada yada. We don't offer refunds. We can issue you a credit to put towards a future workshop if you email us a notice of cancellation at least 72 hours prior to class start. There are no credits for cancellations less than 24 hours before class time so please sign up thoughtfully! Thank you for your understanding!
  • Can I have a private crafting event at Create Studios?
Why that's our specialty! We have a beautiful, freestanding, private studio with lots of on site parking. It's the perfect venue for your private craft centered event. We love to host small groups of approximately 8 to 24 people (depending on the craft). Any workshop listed on our website can be a private event. We also have a list of private workshops that can only be booked as private/team building events. We also love to do CUSTOM events, so if you have something in mind that you don't see online, please email us at hello@createstudiosnj.com and we will work with you to come up with something amazing! We've hosted private events for corporate groups (team building and client appreciation), book clubs, milestone birthdays, sports teams, school clubs, ladies nights, religious groups, Girl Scouts (10 and up), and family groups, and we'd love to host your group too!
  • There are no available seats, or not enough for my friends and me. Can you squeeze us in?
Maybe! Some workshops are easier to open up to additional people than others. Can't hurt to give us a call! If you have 3 or more people interested in a fully booked workshop, we can add another public workshop to the schedule and put you in first. If you have 8 or more people interested, well then let's just schedule you for your own private event!
  • Can I sit with my friend?
Of course! Just make a note in the text box when you register and we will make sure you sit with your pals.
  • My friend/date/child doesn’t want to participate in the workshop but they want to come hang out. Can they just tag along for free?
That would be so fun but our studios are small and every seat needs to be filled with a pre-registered (aka paying) person. We do have some events for couples or parent/child working on a joint project (most famously our parent/child hand knit blanket workshop) and those are priced accordingly.
  • Are all of your workshops BYOB?
Pretty much! Some of our workshops are specifically labeled BYOB 18+ and they'll feel more like a night out. But if you want to bring an espresso martini to a morning watercolor session, well then you do you.
  • What age are your workshops for?
Most of our public workshops are designed for ages 16 and up. BYOB 18+ events are for age 18 and up, 21 to bring alcohol. We have summer and year round mini camps, and most of those are 10 and up. How about a private event? We have had families arrange private events and those can be for 8 and up when accompanied by adults. We do offer parent child/family crafts. The age requirements are listed in the craft description, but they're usually 10 and up, depending on the craft. Our studio isn't suitable for kids younger than 8.
  • Anything for kids?
Yes! We do offer summer and day off mini camps usually for 10 and up - sometimes 12 and up, just depends on the subject. We also offer parent/child or similar classes which are usually 10+ with a 21+ adult. We also host some birthday parties, sometimes, for 10 and up. Sometimes we host Girl Scout groups, usually 10 and up. Keep an eye on our Teen Camps page of our website!
  • Do you do kids' birthday parties?
We have hosted a select few, wonderful birthday parties at the studio for ages 10 and up. Just a warning as a parent who has had their fair share of sticker shock over these things...we are not a "birthday party factory" so we don't run on volume, we don't have a separate cake and pizza room, and we are probably not your lowest price option. We have to treat a child's birthday party like any other private event here - the price is a multiple of the per person workshop price. That being said, we do offer a few lower priced crafting options just for teens. They can be found on our Teen Birthday Party section of our website. We're working on offering more options. The teen options have event minimums, restricted booking times, and cannot be booked during prime time hours.
  • I would like to straight up rent out your studio for my own event.
We are so sorry! Everyone loves our beautiful space but facility rental is outside of our business model and terms of our lease. Can you make your event into a craft centered event that we can host? We'd love to do that for you!
  • I'm a small business owner myself! Can we do a collab?
I love the idea of collabs, however, they require a very significant investment in time and resources. And the truth is that most proposed splits of revenue aren't enough for either of us to pay our bills. Please know I receive multiple requests per week and most put the onus on me to research their business and then propose how I can help their business. So that is where I am coming from when I hear the word "collab" :( BUT if you are seriously interested and you have taken the time to look at my website and you have an idea for how we could work together and have a specific event in mind, please send a proposal to hello@createstudiosnj.com and include the following: Specific event description Why our businesses would be a good fit for each other and our customer bases Pricing A marketing strategy Proposed dates. Please understand I am only able to reply to requests that contain this information. Thank you so much!
